Now for a little about me and my company…
My name is Colm O’Loughlin and I founded Mediacious in 2005 when I was still a student. Since then the business has expanded but its key goals have remained constant - to provide quality graphic design, logo design and web design to companies and individuals at an affordable price. I am based in Magherafelt at the heart of Mid-Ulster, an excellent location from which to service a wide range of clients across Northern Ireland.
I hold a BSc (Hons) Interactive Multimedia Design from the University of Ulster. The course really helped me develop as a designer, advancing my skills and knowledge in all areas of design and multimedia. It introduced me to Flash animation, 3D modelling, game design as well as video and sound editing. I also studied a number of programming languages in modern web design, rich internet applications, and animation.
During my time at University I worked as an Assistant Designer with a local print and design company, gaining invaluable experience of working with the latest software, namely Quark Xpress and Adobe Photoshop. Working within a busy print company has given me an acute understanding of the industrial printing process – knowledge which continues to benefit my clients.
Since completing a PGCE at Queen's University Belfast I qualified as an ICT secondary school teacher. At present I work as a full-time ICT teacher in a secondary school within Northern Ireland. With Multimedia now being heavily embedded into the ICT syllabus, I am able to bring my professional expertise to the classroom.
Thanks to the support from my clients, Mediacious is now a well established name in the multimedia design field. Here’s to the future.
